Mr. Rees-Williams has had some correspondence with Mr. C.R. Hobson, M.P., (on 5424719/48 Hong Kong) about Mr. Louis H. Winch of the Hong Kong Police Force, ending with our letter to Mr. Hobson of the 17th June promising to let him have the further observations of the Governor in due course.

I now enclose a letter from Mr. Hobson's Private Secretary about this case, and should be grateful if you would see whether the Governor's comments have now been received, and if so, let me have the draft of a reply. If there are

no comments from the Governor, could you let me have an interim reply?
